The Advanced Program

The next step on your educational pathway to excellence in Oncology Massage.

E-Learning

Six self-paced E-Learning Units are released six weeks prior to the In-Person Learning.


We recommend you allow 5 - 6 hours per week for your studies.


  1. Medical Terminology and Appliances
  2. Haematology and Glossary of Terms 
  3. Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) 
  4. Radiation Oncology and Chemotherapy
  5. Medical Massage – Liver, Digestive Tract and Haematological Malignancy
  6. Case Studies, Writing in Hospital Notes, Informed Consent, and Infection Control


During your E-Learning you will experience


  • Weekly online mentoring sessions with the Facilitation Team and your fellow students
  • Active participation in the Discussion Board
  • Engagement with your peers and the opportunity to develop (or build on!) relationships

In-Person Learning

This three day program of face to face learning with our Senior Facilitation Team is presented to a maximum of eight students.


  1. Hospital Culture and Adaptation of OM
  2. Hospital tour
  3. NEW: Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) Hand and Foot Protocol
  4. NEW: Two upper body techniques
  5. Communication and Self Care
  6. Mindfulness and OM
  7. The Lymphatic System
  8. Hand Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  9. Signs of Dying, Grief and Loss, Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD)
  10. Introduction to Simulation Suite
  11. Manual Handling, Positioning and Draping
  12. Minimum of three patient sessions in the Simulation Suite
  13. Research - how we can provide essential support to current projects
  14. Resources, and taking the Advanced Program home

1st Cohort 2025

  • E-Learning start date: 16 May 2025
  • In-Person dates: Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2025


2nd Cohort 2025

  • E-Learning start date: October - coming soon.
  • In-Person dates: November - on their way!

Essential information:


  1. Successful completion of OMT Ltd.'s Foundation Program in the last four years.
  2. Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy, Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) or New Zealand Diploma in Remedial Massage (Level 6).
  3. A professional association membership with current Senior first aid certificate and Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  4. A recommendation from an OMT Ltd Facilitator.
  5. Minimum of one year experience working with oncology clients, or within a health care setting.
  6. Whilst registrations are welcomed, Oncology Massage Global students must have completed a one day Mini Tutorial prior to attending the Advanced Program.
  7. Advanced Program fee: $2950.
